Rozwarcie 12 cm

Rozwarcie — dilation, the opening of the body in birth. „The queen among my vessels, a vase for affirming life. It's wonderful that this is happening now, just as the new emerges.” Kasia Białek — inviting to the work's auction

Stoneware vase Rozwarcie 12 cm — white glaze, organic form inspired by the womb
“Rozwarcie 12 cm”, 2023

“Rozwarcie 12 cm is one of a series of vases, each its own story. It differs from the others in shape, colour and dilation (the opening). Through it I speak of the bond between earth and the moment of birth. I am inspired by the womb. Made of clay, it turns my thoughts to the universal place where life is reborn. Rozwarcie means opening, the emergence of the new — a powerful moment that binds all beings, that makes a community out of the experience of giving birth.”

“I was making a spring vase and in my hands earth and the female body joined together. At first it was a thought that a patriarchal system treats them the same way — as a resource to be used, as an object. And I feel otherwise. This is my song in praise of life. (…) The moment of birth is beautiful, deeply mysterious and sacred. The dilation of the body and of every seed from which the spiral of life unfolds.”the artist, on the “Rozwarcie” series

About the series

Rozwarcie is an artistic confrontation with experience and trauma — the symbolism of the female womb interwoven with elements of nature. Each vase is made in a different size — the figure in the title denotes the opening diameter; documented pieces are 10, 11, 12 and 17 cm. From her own clay mix; part of the series is fired black, without glaze, with single, symbolic accents.
